The Force

Title: The Force
Universe: The Best Moves
Characters: Bradey-chan, Ethan
Prompt: Superpowers/Psychics
Note: None

Deep in thought... So deep in thought...

Except, well, Ethan had no idea what Bradey-chan could possibly be thinking so hard about. Normally she was a ball of happiness bouncing all over the place, but for some reason, things were different.

The upcoming issue of Remote Transmissions was coming together nicely, and while Bradey-chan didn't have a huge stake in it, she'd volunteered right away. So it wasn't that she didn't want to be there...

Ethan watched her for a moment longer, before going back to editing the piece he'd been working on for the last hour. It was several pages long, and in-depth, and while interesting, also rather dense to go with that depth. Luckily it didn't need too much work or else Ethan would have tried to hand it off to Rae or Myra Z, who were both working on similar.

Rhyn was tackling layout, as usual, and Bradey-chan was supposed to be cleaning up some graphics that hadn't quite survived the formatting changes they'd needed made to them. And she was, obviously, but Ethan could tell her mind was elsewhere, too. She wasn't doing hard work, nor tedious work. Just cleaning lines, and she even had a tablet plugged into her laptop to help her along.

She was working faster than he was...

There weren't any conventions upcoming, aside from some small gatherings and screenings. It was mid-season for new anime. Ethan tried to think of where exactly on the spectrum Bradey-chan's interests lay, but that didn't help either. Besides, if there was anything that distracting, she likely would have mentioned it earlier. When they'd first started for the evening, everyone had had a few words to say about current shows, new games, and everything else.

Ethan couldn't help a little sigh.

"Mmm?" Bradey-chan looked over at him. "You okay, Ethan?"

"I'm fine," he replied, meeting her gaze and smiling. He realized he was thirsty. "You want a drink, Bradey-chan? There's a ton of soda in the fridge."

"Yes, please!" Bradey-chan squeaked, grinning. Ethan couldn't get that grin out of his head as he walked over to the fridge and grabbed a 2-liter of orange soda. Rhyn only seemed to have coffee mugs clean, so Ethan poured them each a mug-full. If any of the others had wanted some, they could have spoken up.

Bradey-chan was still smiling when Ethan set the mug in front of her.

"It worked!" she said as she grabbed it and took a long swallow.

"What worked?" Ethan asked, frowning.

"I was trying to use the Force to get someone to go get me a drink," Bradey-chan explained as she set her mug down. "And it took a little while, but it worked!"

Ethan blinked once. Maybe the others weren't paying attention. But they were all laughing a second later. And he couldn't help himself, he started to laugh too. He wasn't going to tell her about that he'd had a rather salty dinner.

Not when she had that smile on her face.
